How does it work?
Exam Expert tutors have been successfully implementing this model for over a decade. It enables us to provide top-quality exam preparation and deliver effective and engaging sessions.

01.
Activate prior knowledge
Introduce the exam question topic and consider everything they already know. What knowledge might be useful? Have they seen an exam question similar to this in the past? This brings knowledge to children's working memory and improves speed of recall from long-term memory - speeding up the time it takes to answer exam questions.

Model example questions
EXAM EXPERT tutor will go through a series of example exam questions and a variety of question styles. Interactive questions and reflections will guide the children's thinking and show them how to efficiently answer exam questions and check their answers for any mistakes.

Guided practice with Exam Expert tutor
Drawing on the examples we've reviewed, the Exam Expert will pose questions and facilitate discussions with children, prompting them to evaluate the most effective methods for answering questions. Children will use these methods to have a go at similar questions, guided by the Exam Expert tutor.
04.
Independent practice - confidence and success
All children will tackle exam questions independently. They will reflect on their learning, implement the most appropriate methods and ensure they are checking their work back for errors and corrections.
